PUBG Optimization Guide For Competitive Play 2018

PUBG is huge right now and is currently top 3 on steam’s “Top games by current player count”. We have seen a lot of people getting low fps in the game so we decided to make an optimization guide that will hopefully make your game run better.

Keep in mind that the game is in early access and that the developers are making optimization updates quite frequently. Therefore the game will run better in the future but right now there are actually some things you can do to increase your fps. Similar to our CSGO and Overwatch Optimization Guide here is now one for PUBG.

(This guide is not about making the game look good. It is about making the game have the absolute best performance)

1. GPU Settings

1.1 Update GPU Drivers

Start off with updating your GPU Drivers. This can give you a huge increase in fps, especially if you haven’t updated them for a very long time.

1.2 Manage 3D Settings

Right click on your desktop -> Nvidia Control Panel

These are the best Nvidia 3D settings you can use (FOR BEST PERFORMANCE AND SMOOTHNESS). Most Pro players in CSGO use these.

1.3 Adjust Desktop Color Settings (OPTIONAL):

This is optional. You don’t have to use it. Some people use it, some don’t.

Digital Vibrance makes the game look more colorful. It is more popular in CSGO where it makes it easier to spot enemies hiding in dark areas of the map. Though it can be useful in PUBG as well.

Update on ReShade: Soon you will not be able to play PUBG with ReShade anymore. Their new anti-cheat feature blocks the program.

2. Graphics Settings

The graphics settings in the image above are what Summit1g is currently using.

Ingame settings can be quite tricky because it will perform different from computer to computer. Generally you want to have everything on Very Low but if you have a decent graphics card it would be better to set Texture to Medium – High so that the game uses more resources from your GPU than your CPU.

3. Launch Options

If you have low fps ingame you can try these commands in your launch options: -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system -sm4

For some people this gave them a huge increase in fps including us, but for some it decreased their fps. So we recommend to try both with and without these launch options to see for yourself if it increased your fps.

Go to Steam -> Right Click PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds -> Properties -> Set Launch Options

We hope this was helpful. Feel free to comment if you have any questions.
